Casper

Casper was a black-and-white cat from Plymouth, England, who became an international celebrity for his extraordinary daily routine: every morning he would stroll to the bus stop outside his home, wait in the queue, and board the No. 3 bus for a regular round-trip across the city. His owner, Susan Finden, only discovered his secret when local bus drivers — who had quietly come to know and look after him — mentioned that her cat was a regular passenger. The drivers grew so fond of Casper that they would make sure he was safely back at his stop before letting him off, and a notice was even placed in the buses asking drivers to look out for him. His commuting adventures, which covered an estimated 11-mile loop, captured hearts far beyond Plymouth and were reported around the world. Sadly, Casper was killed by a car near his bus stop in January 2010. The public response was so great that the bus company placed a plaque in his memory, and Finden later wrote a best-selling book, "Casper the Commuting Cat", celebrating his gentle, adventurous spirit.
