Felix the Station Cat

Felix is a black-and-white cat who has lived at Huddersfield railway station in West Yorkshire, England, since arriving as a kitten in 2011 to help with pest control. Over the years she became so beloved by commuters and staff that, in 2016, the rail operator officially promoted her to "Senior Pest Controller", complete with a name badge and a high-visibility uniform. A Facebook page documenting her daily life on the platforms attracted hundreds of thousands of followers from around the world, turning a working station cat into an international celebrity. Her fame inspired bestselling books, a line of merchandise, and even a commemorative naming of a train in her honour. Felix — and her younger colleague Bolt, recruited in 2018 — greet passengers, patrol the concourse and have raised substantial sums for charity, proving that a station cat can be both a genuine working animal and a much-loved public figure.
