🧺 Ingredients
- 150g cod fillet (boneless)
- 20g cooked spinach (finely chopped, a small amount only)
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp oat flour
👩🍳 Method
- Poach the cod in unsalted water until opaque and flaking, then check carefully for bones.
- Wilt the spinach, squeeze out the excess water and chop it finely.
- Flake the cod and combine with the spinach, egg white and oat flour.
- Shape into small patties and place on a lined baking tray.
- Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 12 minutes until set.
- Cool completely before offering to your cat.
Nutrition: Cod is a very lean, low-fat white fish protein that most cats find highly palatable, and a trace of spinach adds iron, folate and vitamin K.
📝 Notes
Spinach should only ever be used in small amounts, and is best avoided altogether for cats with a history of urinary or calcium-oxalate stones because of its oxalate content. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. As always, treats should stay under 10% of daily calories.
