🧺 Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 40 g cooked salmon, flaked and bones removed
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped cooked spinach, squeezed dry
  • 1 tbsp water

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin.
  2. Whisk the eggs with the water until smooth.
  3. Stir in the flaked salmon and finely chopped spinach.
  4. Spoon into the mini muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes until set, then cool fully and cut into small pieces before serving.
Nutrition: Egg and salmon together deliver complete, highly digestible protein, while the frittata's soft set texture suits senior cats and those who prefer a moist, savoury treat over a crunchy one.

📝 Notes

Always double-check cooked salmon for tiny bones before flaking. Offer only a small amount of spinach, as it is high in oxalates and unsuitable for cats prone to urinary crystals — skip it entirely for those cats. Treats like this should stay under 10% of daily calories.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
