🧺 Ingredients

  • 180g lean venison (finely minced)
  • 3–4 blueberries (mashed)
  • 30g cooked mashed pumpkin
  • 1 tsp fish oil
  • Small pinch of taurine powder (if serving regularly)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Gently cook the minced venison in a dry non-stick pan over low heat until no pink remains.
  2. Break up any clumps so the texture stays fine and cat-friendly.
  3. Mash the blueberries to a pulp — whole berries are a choking size for cats.
  4. Steam and mash the pumpkin until smooth.
  5. Combine venison, pumpkin and mashed blueberry, then stir in the fish oil.
  6. Cool fully and add taurine powder if this is a recurring meal rather than an occasional treat.
Nutrition: Lean red meat high in iron and B-vitamins, with a novel protein profile for sensitive cats. Blueberries add polyphenol antioxidants; pumpkin supports digestion.

📝 Notes

Venison is a true novel protein — useful for elimination diets. Keep blueberries to a tiny quantity; fruit should be a garnish, never a main ingredient. Refrigerate up to 4 days or freeze in portions.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
