🧺 Ingredients

  • 150g skinless chicken breast
  • 1 small carrot (cooked soft and mashed)
  • A very small pinch of freshly grated ginger (about 1/8 tsp)
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tbsp oat flour

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Poach the chicken breast in unsalted water until cooked through, then cool and mince finely.
  2. Steam or boil the carrot until very soft and mash it smooth.
  3. Combine the chicken, carrot, the tiny pinch of grated ginger, egg white and oat flour.
  4. Shape into small flat rounds on a lined baking tray.
  5. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes until set and lightly golden.
  6. Cool fully before serving, and start with just one to check it agrees with your cat.
Nutrition: Lean chicken supplies easily digestible protein, soft carrot adds gentle fibre and beta-carotene, and a whisper of ginger offers a mild, traditional tummy-settling touch.

📝 Notes

Ginger is considered safe for cats in very small amounts and is sometimes used to settle mild nausea, but use no more than a tiny pinch and skip it entirely for pregnant cats or cats on medication without your vet's okay. Any cat with ongoing vomiting needs a vet, not a treat. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days; keep treats under 10% of daily calories.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
