🧺 Ingredients

  • 2 small eggs, beaten
  • 40 g cooked plain salmon (or tinned in water, no salt), flaked and bones removed
  • 1 tbsp plain cooked pumpkin puree
  • A pinch of dried catnip (optional)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Heat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C) and lightly oil a small ovenproof dish.
  2. Check the flaked salmon carefully and remove every bone.
  3. Beat the eggs with the pumpkin, then fold in the salmon and optional catnip.
  4. Pour into the dish to about 1 cm deep and bake for 12–15 minutes until just set.
  5. Cool completely, then cut into finger-sized strips.
  6. Store in the fridge and use within two days.
Nutrition: Cooked egg supplies complete, highly digestible protein while salmon adds omega-3 fatty acids for skin and coat; the soft, moist texture tempts convalescing or picky cats who turn their noses up at dry treats.

📝 Notes

Eggs must be fully cooked — never raw — and salmon should be plain, boneless and unsalted. Rich in protein and moisture, these are a treat or topper, not a replacement for a complete cat food.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
