- A splash of unsalted water for cooking
👩🍳 Method
- Warm a non-stick pan and add the venison mince with a splash of water.
- Cook gently, breaking it up, for about 8 minutes until no pink remains.
- Add the finely chopped liver and cook for a further 3 to 4 minutes until fully cooked through.
- Drain off any excess liquid and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Serve a small spoonful as a topper or treat, and refrigerate the rest for up to four days or freeze in portions.
Nutrition: Venison and liver together are exceptionally rich in iron, taurine and B vitamins, supporting healthy red blood cells and energy, while venison provides a novel red-meat protein that suits cats with poultry or fish allergies.
📝 Notes
Liver is very high in vitamin A and iron, so keep it a small fraction of the recipe and offer this mince occasionally, not daily. Venison is a genuine novel protein, helpful for cats with common poultry or fish sensitivities, but introduce any new food gradually.
