🧺 Ingredients

  • 150g skinless white fish (cod, haddock or pollock), bones removed
  • 1 tablespoon of cooked, mashed peas
  • 1 egg white to bind

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Check the fish very carefully and remove every bone, then flake it into a bowl.
  2. Mash in the cooked peas and stir through the egg white until the mixture just holds together.
  3. Press into a small silicone mould or ramekin lined with baking paper.
  4. Bake at 180°C for about 18 minutes until set and cooked through.
  5. Cool completely, then slice into small portions. Serve a modest piece and refrigerate the rest for up to four days.
Nutrition: White fish is a lean, high-protein, low-calorie option that satisfies without excess fat, while a small amount of peas adds fibre for fullness. A useful treat when calories need keeping in check.

📝 Notes

White fish is naturally low in fat, making this a sensible occasional treat for overweight cats — but weight loss should always be managed with your vet, using portion control of a complete diet rather than treats alone. Always double-check for bones before serving.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
